They call this
race "Dakar" for a reason. Ellos llaman a esta carrera "Dakar" por una
razón. I heard tons of stories about this 30 Kilometer race in Lobos . He oído historias acerca de toneladas de esta carrera de 30 kilómetros de Lobos . But you just believe that everything is actually true when you are facing all the specialities that people brag about. Pero si acabas de creer que todo es realmente cierto cuando se enfrentan a todas las especialidades que la gente alardear. Today i learned the hard and hot way that everything is true. Hoy he aprendido la manera dura y caliente que todo es verdad.
Lobos is the head city of the Lobos Partido in the Buenos Aires Province and is located roughly 100 kilometers south-west of Buenos Aires. Lobos es la ciudad cabecera del Partido de Lobos en la provincia de Buenos Aires y está situado a unos 100 kilómetros al sur-oeste de Buenos Aires. On the journey to the race venue, on the outskirts of Lobos i got the first impression of the world famous Pampas . En el viaje al lugar de la carrera, en las afueras de Lobos me dieron la primera impresión de la famosa pampa . Bernardo, Nora and I drove for ages and i couldn't believe that there was not a single elevation in the landscape. Bernardo, Nora y yo nos fuimos a las edades y que no podía creer que no había una sola elevación en el paisaje. Massive fields left and right. Campos masivo izquierdo y derecho. Impressive. Impresionante.
We arrived at the venue in time and picked up all the essentials from the registration. Llegamos al lugar en el tiempo y recoger todos los elementos esenciales de la inscripción. The organizer, Miguel Angel Schiel, was pleased to meet me. El organizador, Miguel Angel Schiel, se mostró satisfecho a mi encuentro. He was extremely happy to have a german runner in the race as his father was born in Germany aswell. Él estaba muy feliz de tener un corredor alemán en la carrera que su padre nació en Alemania. Everybody from the organizing Asociación de Atletismo Lobense was extremely friendly and supportive. Todo el mundo de la organización de la Asociación de Atletismo Lobense era extremadamente amable y de apoyo. They were pleased to have a foreigner in the race and made that know to everybody with several announcements. Estaban contentos de tener a un extranjero en la carrera e hizo saber que a todo el mundo con varios anuncios.
It was still coolish when we started. Todavía era
más fresco cuando empezamos. The route took a short zick-zack way through the town and
then one could already see what everybody was talking about - the clay
roads. El recorrido tuvo una corta Zick-Zack camino a través de la ciudad
y luego ya se podía ver lo que todo el mundo estaba hablando - los caminos de
barro. A "kenyan style"
road full of dust and little rocks. Un "estilo de Kenia" camino lleno de
polvo y pequeñas rocas. The plan was to run that road 15k up, turn around, and the
same procedure back to Lobos. El plan era correr por ese camino 15k,
darse vuelta, y el mismo procedimiento de nuevo a Lobos. Easier said than
done. Es más fácil decirlo que hacerlo. I tried to settle in with a nice, defensive pace. Traté de arreglar con un buen ritmo, a la defensiva. It didn't really worked out as i had to suffer pretty early on in the race. No funcionó realmente a cabo, ya que tenía que sufrir bastante pronto en la carrera. When the sun came up higher and higher in the sky, i got slower and slower. Cuando salió el sol cada vez más alto en el cielo, que me dieron más y más lento. It was painful as the route had basically 3 corners, thats was it. Fue muy doloroso ya que la ruta tenía básicamente tres esquinas, eso fue todo.
Every water station was like a oasis in the dessert. Cada estación de agua era como un oasis en el desierto. I could not get enough water in me and on my body. No pude conseguir suficiente agua en mí y en mi cuerpo. I cruised on and suffered a lot, walked a bit and finally was back on the tarmac road of Lobos. Me cruzó en y sufrido mucho, se acercó un poco y finalmente volvió a la carretera asfaltada de Lobos.
I was happy to see the finish line and to cool down in the pool. Yo estaba feliz de ver la línea de meta y para refrescarse en la piscina. This one was tough. Este fue duro. What usually would be jogging pace feels like flat out. Lo que generalmente se siente como el ritmo para correr a toda máquina. The sun is burning the energy out. El sol se está quemando la energía hacia fuera.
Nevertheless it was a great experience and the more than friendly and welcoming atmosphere was unreal. Sin embargo, fue una experiencia genial y el ambiente más agradable y acogedor era irreal. I had to give interviews for the local TV and newspapers and had to take lot of pictures with a lot of people. Tuve que dar entrevistas para la televisión y los periódicos locales y tuvo que tomar muchas fotos con un montón de gente.
